Alendronic acid is the active constituent of the Osteofos medication. Alendronate is the salt form of Alendronic acid. The prescribed dose for a woman with osteoporosis after their menopause is 70 mg of the drug once in a week or 10 mg once in a day for week duration. The dose for prevention from Osteoporosis is 35 mg once in a week or 5 mg daily for a week. The tablet of Osteofos is effective when taken in the morning time at least before one and half hour prior to your first food of the day. The tablet should be swallowed with plenty of water to prevent oesophageal irritation and fast delivery to stomach.
